Mission Statement
The goal of the CAYBBA is to provide our youth with the opportunity to enjoy the cooperation of teamwork, the competition of sport, and the value of improving skills through the playing of basketball.

In grades 1-3, we focus on developing skills with drills on dribbling, passing, shooting, defense and rebounding. A structured league is played at these levels. All players participate equally. Teams are determined at random or through a draft. A player may request to play with a friend, but the request must be reciprocated. Common jerseys give a sense of community and promote good sportsmanship.

In grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 In-House, we focus on the value of teamwork. Teams are selected with player evaluations and a draft process. Balancing competition is the priority in selecting teams. A maximum of two coaches may request to work together. Teams typically have one practice and one game per week. Playing time is shared during the games and roster size is limited to 10 players. A tournament is held at the end of the year, and participants receive a trophy for their efforts during the year.

In grades 5 through 8 we offer a Metro traveling program where we bring more focus on competition and developing skills. Metro teams are formed of our best players to compete with the best players from other communities in the metro area. Our goal is improvement in team and individual skills. Each team plays between 4 and 12 tournaments depending on age and level of play. In this program, we offer equal opportunity but not equal playing time. We may need to cut players to obtain a reasonable roster size. With the CAYBBA basketball program and the programs the school offers, there is opportunity to play basketball at some level from grades 1 through 12.

Our programs are successful to the degree that they allow youth to have fun and learn the game of basketball at all levels. By doing this all players are winners.

Philosophy The Chaska Area Youth Basketball Association's philosophy is to provide a structured, enjoyable and learned basketball experience for all participants. Both recreational and competitive opportunities are offered.
Purpose and Structure The purpose of the basketball board is to plan, structure and coordinate boys/girls youth basketball; to be the governing body of the program; and to uphold the philosophy of the program. People interested in joining the board should contact a current board member or send an e-mail to the current president (cgoetz@caybba.com). As positions open up, the board will interview applicants and vote new members in based on skill sets and desire.

Meetings are scheduled monthly or as needed during the off-season. Meeting minutes will be posted on the web site. Any concerns throughout the year can be addressed by contacting a board member and a time will be scheduled to meet with the board. You can also contact the board through the web site. Open meetings will be held at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year. Please see the web site for specific dates.
